An Affirmation
Recent work by Amy DiPlacido

Amy DiPlacido’s solo exhibition, An Affirmation, will show case a variety of fiber artwork and ink drawings. Both series concern etiquette, established design rules, and the break down of language. Irony and light- hearted optimism plays a role in her phrases, oftentimes revealing man’s compulsion to compartmentalize monotony. Her drawings and stretched panels of dyed color challenge what is perceived as a ‘natural’ arrangement, and what is easy on the eyes.

Amy DiPlacido received her Master of Fine Arts Degree in Fiber from Cranbrook Academy of Art and her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Massachusetts College of Art and Design. She is a mixed-media artist who explores the concepts of language and perception through line drawings and dyed fabric. She has held exhibitions nationally and internationally, and has taught at The Fuller Craft Museum and The New Art Center in Massachusetts. She has also participated in Artist in Residence programs at Art Farm Nebraska and Art 342 in Colorado. Amy currently resides in Morgantown, West Virginia.
