Opening Friday, December 2, at Artist Image Resource.
The Brew House Association’s Distillery Program presents its mid-way show, Mean, Median, Mode. Hosted by Artists Image Resource, this group show will highlight the work of eight Pittsburgh artists at the halfway point of their eight-month residency.
The opening reception will be held on Friday, December 2, 2011, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Artists Image Resource, located at 518 Foreland Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15212. Participating artists include Jessica Amarnek, Matt DiClemente, Amy DiPlacido, Zach Dorn, Marytna Matusiak, Laurel Mitchell, Jim Rugg, and Bec Young.

Mean, Median, Mode provides an overview of new and ongoing creative developments in the work of artists in the Distillery Program. Now in its sixth year, this program in contemporary practice yields diverse approaches to making art within the culturally diverse landscape of Pittsburgh. Although the content and form of the individual work varies, the common thread showcases a rich collection of artists at the intersection of their residency. Distillery 6

Matt and I are both happy to report that we both received an 8 month long residency in Pittsburgh: Distillery 6!

The Distillery Program is an 8 month studio residency program that builds a bridge between fine arts in the academic realm and the career development as an individual artist. Seeking 6-8 emerging artists for the next iteration, the Brew House Association encourages both the production of new work and the creation of critical dialogue and professional development for the selected emerging artists. Artists are presented with professional development workshops, artist lectures, professional critiques, partnerships with other arts organizations in the Pittsburgh area, a shared studio, and a final exhibition.
Opportunity awaits you

The sixth year of the Distillery Program hosted by the Brew House Association is set to begin in September. The program offers weekly meetings consisting of a series of lectures, critiques and studio visits. The selected artists are provided dedicated and secure studio space at the Brew House at a very minimal fee. The artists are in contact with professional working artists for mentorship and networking opportunities, work closely with other arts organizations in the Pittsburgh area, host two pubic exhibitions in the course of the program, and meet for critiques and professional development opportunities presented by guest speakers in the fine arts and museum industry.
